In his own words, Ryan Agro’s job is “to support people during one of the most challenging experiences of their lives.” As a Product Manager at Navigating Care, that means understanding what patients and care teams need, then working with UX, engineering, and QA to turn those needs into products people can rely on. We sat down with Ryan to talk about what motivates him, what makes Navigating Care a special place to work, and what he does outside the office.

How would you explain what you do here to someone outside the company?

My role as a Product Manager is to help make sure we’re building the right things for the right reasons. I spend a lot of time understanding the needs of patients, care teams, and the business, then turning those needs into product improvements or new features. From there, I work closely with our UX, engineering, and QA teams to design, build, and test our products.

What’s one project or moment at work you’re especially proud of?

My team developed a remote monitoring tool for Bispecific Therapy. This therapy has complex workflows and risks for side effects that need to be closely monitored in order to keep patients safe. The project took a lot of research with various clinical stakeholders, and we are in the process of getting real patient feedback so we can continue to improve it over time.

What makes Navigating Care a special place to work, in your opinion?

Navigating Care is special because the work is deeply mission-driven and grounded in a real desire to improve cancer care. There is a strong sense that what we build matters, and I appreciate working with people who bring a thoughtful mix of empathy, expertise, and problem-solving to complicated challenges.

What’s something your team does really well together?

Our team does a great job bringing different perspectives together to solve problems thoughtfully. We are able to balance patient needs, customer feedback, technical tradeoffs, and business priorities in a way that leads to stronger decisions. I also think we communicate well when navigating ambiguity, which is especially important when working on complex healthcare problems.

What motivates you to do your best work each day?

I’m motivated by knowing that our work supports people during one of the most challenging experiences of their lives. I also care a lot about building products that are thoughtful, useful, and make a meaningful difference for the people who rely on them.

What can you usually be found doing outside of work?

I try to be outside as much as possible. You can usually find me skiing, golfing, running, hiking, paddle boarding, or relaxing. Spending time with family, friends, and my cat are also important to me.

Where do you hope to grow next — professionally or personally?

Professionally, I hope to continue learning about the healthcare domain and building out my leadership skills. Personally, I am excited to start a family and to keep exploring new hobbies.
