Employee Spotlight: William Garrido

This month’s spotlight shines on William Garrido, our Lead Site Reliability Engineer. He’s been part of the Navigating Care team for more than eight years, growing his career right here with us. From starting out as our IT Specialist to leading the charge in keeping our systems reliable and resilient, William has shown what’s possible when talent meets dedication. Let’s get to know him a little better.

What’s the best thing about your job?

One of the best parts of my job is how much I get to learn every day. The work is constantly evolving, which keeps things dynamic and engaging. I enjoy being part of a space where there’s always something new to explore—whether it’s a different challenge or a fresh perspective. I also love that I get to focus on automation; streamlining processes and finding smarter ways to do things is incredibly rewarding.

What’s the best thing about working for Navigating Care?

One of the best parts about working at Navigating Care is the autonomy and flexibility—it really allows you to do your best work. But what makes it truly meaningful is knowing that the work we do directly supports oncology practices and their patients. Being part of something that makes a real difference in people’s lives adds a strong sense of purpose to everything we do.

What parts of our mission/vision/values do you connect with?

Integrity is foundational to everything we do. It means being accountable, honest, and dependable, both individually and as a team. In tech, it’s easy to cut corners or settle for “good enough,” but integrity means taking the extra time to do things the right way, even when no one’s watching. It shows up in how we handle security, communicate with transparency, and follow through on our commitments. It’s something I strive to bring into every decision I make, whether I’m building infrastructure or supporting a teammate.

What’s the most unique job you’ve had before working here?

In high school, my first job was at a local vacuum and sewing machine shop where I was responsible for vacuum servicing and repairs. It was the perfect job for someone who’d been taking things apart since childhood…Though my family was just relieved I stopped disassembling the VCR for “research.”

What’s your secret talent no one knows about?

Quilting! I learned how to sew a quilt while working at my first high school job. And yes, it was, of course, space themed.

What can you be found doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy a wide range of hobbies and am always looking for new things to learn. I spend time gardening, baking, and working on electronics projects. I also enjoy building and improving my home automation and homelab setup. It’s a great way to stay creative and explore new technologies in my free time. I’m also an avid reader. Just completed the 10 book series The Expanse, my favorite of all time, and am currently reading The Ministry of Time.
