Navigating Care Announces Jeff Oberlander as VP, Engineering

Seattle software veteran joins leadership team to expand capabilities and help company scale

Seattle, WA—January 29th, 2013 — Navigating Care is proud to announce that Jeff Oberlander has joined Navigating Care as VP, Engineering. Jeff has over 23 years of software engineering development and leadership expertise from a wide variety of company sizes, from 120,000-employee Fortune 500 companies to a variety of small startups in the Seattle area.

Oberlander joins a growing Navigating Care team, which has developed the leading patient portal in the oncology market and now delivers patient engagement solutions to nearly 600 oncologists across the United States. With a mix of healthcare and technology industry veterans, Navigating Care is poised to build on this leadership position and plans to grow its market share aggressively in the coming year. In his new role, Jeff will lead the engineering team to scale its current technology platform for growth and address the many business opportunities that are opening in front of the company. This will include expanding the team, as well as working towards a service- oriented architecture in order to extend the capabilities of the platform and allow for the anticipated growth of the business.

Most recently, Jeff was the Senior Director, Software Engineering for Getty Images, where he led Getty's Seattle eCommerce web development teams. Over the last 8 years, his teams created mission critical, 24x7, high volume eCommerce sites that contributed to Getty's nearly 1B annual revenue. Jeff is also a passionate leader and coach in lean and agile software development best practices, which strives to bring visibility to the business value of software, visibility of prioritization, and a focus on the flow of value from "concept to cash". He lead the transformation of Getty's 200+ IT staff to these new principles and processes.

“We’ve been searching for the right engineering leader for over a year,” said Gena Cook, Navigating Care CEO. “We’re excited to have Jeff’s leadership, expertise, vision and passion to help scale our business to better serve the healthcare professionals and patients we serve every day.”

“I am thrilled to have this chance to work in such a meaningful and personal business. Everyone I know has been touched in some way by cancer, and this business helps cancer patients manage their care in a way that wasn’t available previously. The business is growing quickly and customers are signing up at a rapid pace — yet it has all of the fun of a new startup where everyone contributes to the bottom line and wears many hats. It is exciting to be able to apply the breadth of my technology experience to a new growing Seattle business, and one that will make a difference to others.” said Oberlander.
